It is two storeys high and features a slate roof with a colourwashed rendered front and a plinth. The cottage has two window bays on the upper floor, each with small two-light casements positioned just below the eaves. On the ground floor to the left, there is a doorway framed by narrow panelled pilasters, an architrave, and a cornice, leading to a six-panel door with the top two panels glazed. To the right, there is a modern three-light window, also flanked by similar pilaster strips and topped with a plain board. Fernleigh has one window bay and a door, with a doorway that includes narrow panelled pilasters, an architrave, and a cornice.
