Description

This is an 18th-century range of buildings on Long Street, forming part of the Digby Estate. Number 271 is at the northeast end, and Number 274 is set to the rear. The buildings are two storeys high and have a pantile roof with a hip to the southwest end. They are constructed from stone rubble.

Number 271 features two widely spaced two-light casement windows with small panes above. A modern half-glazed door sits below the upper window on the right, and a modern two-light window is below the upper window on the left. Number 272 has a single window bay and a door. There is a ledged door in a frame to the left, with a lintel extending over a three-light wooden casement. A three-light wooden casement is located on the first floor. Number 273 has two two-light windows with small panes both above and below; the lower ones are segmental headed and flank a ledged door in a frame. Number 274, facing southeast, has a peaked roof with a two-light casement above and a projecting one-storey outshut below.

The Digby Estate buildings, including Wyekham Cottage, Fernleigh, The Shell, Mistletoe Cottage, Fairfields, The Malt House, Eastfields, Tyndall, Linden, The Cottage, and Corner House, form a group.
