GV II*

Detached Farmhouse. Mid C18. (RCHM: 1748). Ashlar stone walls with a chamfered plinth. Thatch roof with stone gable-copings, south one with a ball-finial. 2 square stone stacks, at east gable end, and at the junction of the 2 ranges, C18. L-plan. 2 storeys, with attics, one window south range; 2 window east range: square stone mullions with integral architraves and chamfered cills. Iron casements with tension- bars and small leaded lights. Continuous label over ground floor windows, raised to right of front door. Front doorway with moulded stone architrave and square head. Door with fielded panels and 2 top lights, C18. Overscaled wooden pedimented canopy with dentil cornice and scrolled wooden brackets, C18. The short rear wing rubble-stone and thatched, is also listed. Interior: lobby-entrance plan in the angle between the two ranges. Flagstone floors.

Attached wall and gate-piers, enclosing front garden, C18. Rubble- stone wall with stone coping, ramped at the gate-pier end. 2 square stone ashlar gate-piers with moulded cornices. Chamfered plinth. Source: R.C.H.M. Dorset I, p 226(4).
