Description

The Anchor is a detached house located in Stoke Abbott, dating from around 1800, with a possibly earlier core. The building features dressed stone walls and a slate roof with gable ends. It has two storeys and three sash windows with glazing bars, each topped with stone arch voussoirs. The front door, positioned to the left of centre, has six recessed panels and a wooden frame that dates from the 20th century. There is a small outshut on the left side with a pentice roof and a studded plank stable door. At the rear, there is an attached range that is also two storeys high and has approximately three windows, along with two side doors made of planks.
