Description

Catswood Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with a later 17th or 18th-century addition. It is constructed of ashlar limestone, with random rubble to the rear, and has ashlar chimneys and a stone slate roof. The house is two storeys with an attic, and includes a two-storey rear wing with a cellar and attic.

The west front features two full gables, showing evidence of a raised main roof line. It has a two-window arrangement, with three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement windows on the ground and upper floors, and two-light windows in the attic, all with hoodmoulds. A central doorway has a square-headed opening and a gabled timber porch. Each gable end has a chimney with a moulded cap, and there are single-light casement windows positioned off-centre on the upper floor.

The rear wing has a half-gable on its north and south sides. The north side features a leaded attic casement with a timber lintel, while the south side has a blocked window opening. Various window types are present, including several two-light chamfered mullioned casements with hoodmoulds. The east end of the rear wing has a parapet gable with a single window.

Inside, stone spiral staircases are located in each gable end. The rear wing has an extended collar truss roof, and the main range has a replacement collar truss roof. A set of gate piers of an earlier date is located to the southwest.
