Description

No. 21 Hope Street is a small row house dating from the mid-17th century, although it has been refenestrated. The exterior is rendered with a slate roof and features one-and-a-half storeys with a single window. A broad gabled half-dormer includes a V-shaped small oriel with casement windows, positioned above a four-pane sash window and a 20th-century door set in an earlier frame, accessed by one step. There is a brick stack on the right side. The building's small vertical scale indicates its early construction date. The interior was inaccessible during the survey but is reported to contain a large blocked fireplace, chamfered and stopped beams, and an upper cruck truss.
