Description

These are two houses, numbers 10A and 10B, built in the late 18th or early 19th century and set back from Nothe Parade. They are rendered and have a slate roof. The building runs straight back behind number 10 on the parade, with a short angled return at the end. The houses have one storey, an attic, and a semi-basement, with a frontage of one and four windows. They feature small, flat-roofed dormers with slate cheeks, as well as 12-pane sash windows in flush boxes. A prominent eight-pane sash oriel window is on the left-hand end, above a small eight-pane light and a further door. Three 20th-century doors are set within moulded architraves, each with a small, plain fanlight, with the transom placed above the springing-line of the arch. The entrances are raised above the semi-basement by concrete steps, with simple iron balustrades. A small 12-pane sash window is located in the return gable, and there are one gable and two ridge stacks. The interior has not been inspected. The building fronts onto a former boatyard and may have been constructed for the boatyard owner adjacent to the quay.
