Description
Milton Mill and Mill House is a former water mill and attached mill house, likely built in the late 18th century. The house features brick walls and a hipped slate mansard roof with brick end stacks, arranged in a double-pile plan over two storeys. A 19th-century porch has a brick wall base and glazed timber framing above, topped with a gabled slate roof. On the ground floor, there are two casement windows with horizontal glazing bars set under brick arches, and three similar windows on the first floor.
The mill, now part of the house, also has brick walls and a slate mansard roof, rising two storeys with an attic. It includes a stable door, two 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor, and a first floor featuring a French door in the former loft door opening along with two casements that have cast iron glazing. The attic contains two dormers with casements, also with cast iron glazing. Inside the house, the main ground floor room boasts a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and some exposed ceiling beams. The mill section retains some original timbering but no machinery remains.
