Description
The Mill House, incorporating an attached water mill, was constructed in the early 19th century. The mill section has rubble-stone walls topped with a slate and stone slab roof, featuring stone gable copings and a bell-cote on the left-hand side, complete with a ball finial (though no bell remains). It has three storeys and three windows with 3-light casements and glazing bars, each set within a segmental stone arch. A plank door is centrally positioned on the ground floor, with a plank loft door above it. A former mill-wheel was originally positioned on an end wall, and a turbine remains in working order.
The attached house, dating back to approximately 1800, features rendered and scored stone walls and a slate roof with a gable end. It has renewed brick stacks located to the left of centre and on the right-hand ridge. The house has two storeys and 5 to 6 windows – mainly sashes with thin glazing bars and stone cills, with 2- and 3-light wooden casements at the right-hand end. A canted bay window from the 19th century is present on the ground floor to the left, featuring large panes and glazing bars. The front door, approximately centrally positioned, is recessed-panelled with a segmental-pointed head, and is of 20th-century origin, with a segmental wooden canopy supported on wooden brackets.
