Description

The Lodge, along with the entrance gateway and gates to Crichel House, dates from 1874 and serves as the entrance to the park. The structure features rock-faced ashlar walls and flat roofs with parapets, some of which are battlemented. The gateway has a central section with a semi-circular arch, flanked by two lower sections, each with shouldered arches. The central section is topped with a battlemented parapet and has turrets at each end. Below the parapet, there is a string course and corbel table, with a coat of arms positioned above the arch, flanked by buttresses.

To the left, the lower section forms an entrance porch to the lodge, featuring a shouldered arch and a battlemented parapet. To the right of the main archway, another lower section has a shouldered arch, a battlemented parapet, and a projecting turret at the right end. The main arch has a groined vault, and ornamental iron gates are present at all three openings. The lodge, located at the left end, projects at right angles to the gateway and is a single-storey structure with a battlemented parapet. It has three stone mullioned windows with cast iron lattice glazing. There is also a later single-storey addition at the front, constructed in a matching style, featuring a plain parapet.
