Description

The Cottage is a detached house originally built in the 18th century and later enlarged to the east around 1858. The original section, which was a small farmhouse, features plastered walls and a tiled roof with a coped gable at the left end. There is a brick stack, partially plastered, at the left end topped with ornamental pots. The house has two storeys and an attic. On the ground floor, there are three pairs of French doors with bordered glazing, which are behind a 20th-century conservatory. The first floor has three sash windows with vertical glazing bars, and there is a lion-head ornament on the eaves gutter.

At the rear, there are attached former outbuildings that have been incorporated into the house. The mid-19th century range at the right end has plastered walls and a tiled roof with bargeboards on the gables, along with brick stacks at the ends and in the center. This section also has two storeys, with three pairs of French doors with bordered glazing on the ground floor and three sashes with bordered glazing and blind boxes on the first floor.

Inside, the original section includes some chamfered ceiling beams, one 18th-century fireplace, and several 18th-century raised panel doors. A room on the first floor in the rear wing features a domed ceiling. In the later wing, there is a cut string stair with a wreathed handrail and slender moulded balusters.
