Description
This is a barn located 50 metres west of Ivy House Farmhouse, dating from the early 16th century. It features rubble-stone walls, with dressed stone used for the porch and buttresses. There are two buttresses to the south of the porch and one to the north, each with two set-offs. The barn has pantile roofs with gable ends, which were re-tiled in 1985. It includes square opposed porches with two-leaf plank doors and door-posts, as well as a stable door towards the south end of the east elevation.
Inside, the roof construction consists of six bays supported by five trusses, featuring mid-crucks with arch-braced collars. There are three sets of through-purlins, with the lower two equipped with wind-bracing. The foot of each cruck rests on a larger stone block within the walling.
