Description

Blackmarsh Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse with an early 19th-century south wing added. The building features stone walls, while the south range is stuccoed and painted. It has slate roofs, with a gable end to the west and a hipped roof to the east. There are rendered stacks on the west gable and at the rear of the south range. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three windows on the south elevation, which consist of tripartite sashes with marginal glazing bars. There is one sash window on the upper right and a blocked window below it. The central doorway has a moulded architrave and keystone, with a flush and fielded-panel door from the early 19th century, topped by a fanlight with glazing bars. The door position is currently in the angle between the house and the attached farm building, featuring a 6 flush-panel door with a top light and glazing bars from the 19th century. The attached farm building has rubble-stone walls and a clay-tile roof, and is 1½ storeys high. From left to right, it includes four low segmental brick arches supported by square brick piers for car stalls, as well as 2- and 3-light casements and two loft doors above. There are two gabled dormers towards the right end, with casements that have glazing bars.
