Description

Digby Estate No 10, located on Oborne Road in Castleton, is a building dating from the late 18th century to the early to mid 19th century, featuring stone cladding that may conceal an earlier core. The structure is two storeys high and has a thatched roof with a dipping ridge and eaves line. The entrance front faces southeast. It includes wood casements, with a three-light casement and two two-light casements on the upper floor, and on the ground floor, from left to right, there is a ledged door in a frame with a lintel, a small three-light window with a lintel, and a two-light casement with a brick voussoir. A trellised porch is also present, along with a projection to the east of the porch.

This building is part of a group that includes Beech Cottage and its garden gate, the north-west boundary wall to Beech Cottage, Castle Farmhouse, the boundary wall to the south-west of Castle Farmhouse, Digby Estate No 9, Digby Estate No 10, the wall adjoining to the north, and an outbuilding at the north end of the wall of Digby Estate No 10, as well as an outbuilding attached to the south-west end of Digby Estate Nos 275 and 276, Digby Estate Nos 275 and 276, and an outhouse to the south-east end of Nos 275 and 276, forming a group with the outhouses to Castle Farm and the enclosing wall on the north-east side of Osborne Road.
