Description
Eastfields is a building located on Long Street, dating from 1625. It features a 19th-century front facing Long Street and is two storeys high with five window bays. The roof is made of stone slate, and the stone front has a moulded stone cornice and a concealed gutter. On the first floor, there are five 2-light mullioned windows, while below, on both the left and right sides, there are 3-light windows with dripmoulds. The round-headed doorway has projecting quoins and voussoirs, and it includes a fanlight with tracery. The door itself is a six-panelled design with reeded flush panels and round angle blocks. The back of the house is stuccoed and features gables, indicating it may be older than the front. One projecting wing has attractive first-floor bow windows, one of which has a canopied verandah. Eastfields is part of a group that includes Digby Estate Nos 271 to 274, Wyekham Cottage, Fernleigh, The Shell, Mistletoe Cottage, Fairfields, The Malt House, Tyndall, Linden, The Cottage, and Corner House.
