Description

Lower Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse situated at a right angle to the lane, dating from the early 18th century. The farmhouse is constructed of rubble-stone walls with a thatched roof featuring gable ends. Brick stacks are present at the gable ends. It is a two-storey building with three windows: a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window on the first floor. The windows contain 19th and 20th century wood casements with horizontal glazing bars, along with wood cills and lintels. A plank door is centrally located and fitted with ornamental strap-hinges. A pentice roof of clay tiles covers the front door. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a wood lintel and keeping-place in the west gable end, along with heavy, stop-chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops.
