Description
A terrace of four houses on Hope Street, built in the early 19th century. The houses are rendered over brick, with brick stacks and a slate roof. They are three storeys high, with a five-window front. Each house has a doorway with a segmental arched fanlight. Number 15 retains a notable example of an early 19th century shop front, featuring six-pane windows, a panelled and glazed door, and a thin pilaster frame with a decorative frieze and cornice. The other houses have flat arches above later 19th-century sash windows. Canted oriels are present on the first floor, and these have been refenestrated in the mid to late 20th century. Original 19th-century sashes remain in number 15, and original cornicing is present on numbers 14 and 15. Later 19th-century sashes are found on the second floor, with later replacements on numbers 14 and 17. The interior was not inspected.
