Description

No. 7 Warehouse is a mid-19th century building located on Hope Street in Weymouth. It is constructed of rubble and coursed rubble, topped with an asbestos-cement slate roof. The warehouse has a long, plain design with a wide gable facing the street and a fully floored upper level. At the rear, it connects at the upper level to No. 1 Malthouse.

The street-facing side features rubble up to approximately 2.2 meters high, above which is squared stone, possibly raised on a former boundary wall. A deep loading door with brick jambs and a haunched brick segmental head is situated above a pair of doors in a widened opening, which also has a similar segmental brick head indicating the original width. The rear wall is made of good squared rubble and includes an enclosed bridge at the upper level that connects to the malthouse. Below this bridge is a glazed door with a segmental brick head.

Inside, the warehouse retains two rows of wooden posts with slightly chamfered corners arranged in four by three bays. These support deep 19th-century joists and a plank floor that stops short of the walls, revealing the ends of wide trusses above. This warehouse is an important historical structure, representing the area's former collection of similar storage buildings. It is included for its historical and group value.
