HALIFAX DEAL STREET (south side) Nos.1-5 (Consec)

GV II Wool warehouses, now partly retail. Mid C19; No. 1 by 1849. Thin courses of squared stone with plinth and ashlar dressings; brick rear walls to Nos 2-5; roof of large slates with stone gable copings.

EXTERIOR: three and four storeys, 7:3:3:3:3 x seven windows. Chamfered left corner to Church Street. Each warehouse has central gabled loading bay with tier of loading doors, blocked in No 1 except for ground floor, others boarded with ashlar blocks between floors; wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills to windows with small panes to fixed lights. Nos 2-5 have tall chimney stacks to right of front gables. Left return to Church Street four storeys, seven windows, with two gables over third bay tier of loading doors and sixth bay containing windows. East wall to Church Street has slight bulge. Rear elevation to Blucher Yard shows small-paned lights.

INTERIOR: shows tapered cast iron piers. Number 1 has wooden props of unknown date supporting the ceiling beams.
