Description
Bay Cottage and the premises occupied by Jane's Café, located at Marine Parade, date from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The building features two gable ends facing the street, each with one window bay. The first and second floors are roughcast, while the ground floor is stuccoed. There are sash windows on the first and second floors, and three-light sashes on the ground floors, some of which have glazing bars. The doorways are coupled, with six-panelled doors where the top two panels are cut away and glazed, supported by a common wood pilaster. There is a small extension on the right side of the first and ground floors of No 25.
Nos 27 and 28 also date from the late 18th century to early 19th century, each featuring one window bay and a central doorway. The first floors are boarded, and the ground floor is stuccoed. There are three-light sashes on both the ground and first floors. The doorways are coupled with fluted pilasters and an entablature, and the six-panelled doors each have the top four panels glazed.
Bay Cottage and the premises occupied by Jane's Café have a north-east facing side with three storeys and two window bays, topped with a hipped slate roof and faced with roughcast. The first and second floors have modern windows, and there is a modern splayed bay on the first floor, along with a modern extension to the café on the ground floor.
Nos 24 to 28, along with Bay Cottage and the premises occupied by Jane's Café, form a group.
