Description

Cobb House Flats are an early to mid-19th century building of four storeys, situated on Marine Parade. The building has a slate gabled roof with a bracket eaves cornice, and a rendered front facade. It features sash windows with glazing bars, with six windows on the second floor and four windows on the third floor. Iron window guards with a scroll pattern are present on most windows, with some exceptions: the third window from the left-hand end on the second floor, the first and second windows from the left-hand end on the first floor, and all ground floor windows lack these guards. Entrances are located in the third and fourth bays from the left-hand end, with a narrow panelled pilaster on the inner edge of each doorway. The entrances are flanked by six-panelled doors, each with a rectangular fanlight featuring diamond tracery above. The building forms part of a group with numbers 14 to 20 (consec), the Old Bonded Store flats and shops, and the Shell Shop. The Customs House, located on Cobb Road, partially closes the view to the southwest.
