Description
20 and 22 Market Street is an early 18th century building that stands three storeys tall and features three windows. The front is rendered, with three-storey gabled bays on the sides and a gabled dormer in the center, complete with kneelers at the gables. There are string courses between the floors on the bays, which are expressed as a continuous label on the second floor. The first and second floors have glazing bar sash windows, while the first floor to the right has horizontal sliding sashes. A recent shop window and entrance are located in the right-hand bay. The second floor and attic have mullion windows with recent glazing. The central ground floor window is flanked by two doorways, each topped with broken segmental pediments that match the central window on the first floor. These doorways feature bolection surrounds. Nos 2 to 26 (even) form a group, with Nos 2 and 10 to 16 being of local interest.
