Description
Nos 16 and 18 on West Street are late 18th-century buildings featuring two storeys and constructed of gault brick. They have a modillion eaves cornice, a tiled roof, and chimneys located at the rear. The first floor includes three windows with glazing bar sashes; the centre and right-hand windows have brick flat arches, while the left-hand window is part of a two-storey canted bay that has a cornice. The ground floor windows of the bay have been altered to create shop windows, and the centre ground floor window has been replaced with a wider glazing bar recessed bow. To the left, there is a round-headed doorway with a blocked fanlight, and to the right, a three-bay shop front features two shallow bays flanking a glazed door beneath a single fascia. A further window has been incorporated from No 14. Inside No 18, there is a shaped post with stop chamfers that supports the main ceiling beam on the first floor.
