Description
Number 8 on West Street is a building dating from around 1700, which has been altered over time. It is two storeys high and constructed of painted brick, featuring a projecting plinth and a platband. The windows were modified around 1840 to 1850, with two smaller blocked windows visible on the first floor. There are three windows on the first floor, which are cross-glazed sashes, and on the ground floor to the left, there is a tripartite segmental-headed plate glass sash. The central doorway has a thickened surround and contains a four-panel door with a vase-and-ring knocker. To the right, there is a tiled six-light butcher's shop window. The building has a tiled roof, with the right-hand chimney shortened and the left-hand chimney capped with brick. The eaves are flat and feature coupled sprockets. The interior has been altered, but the rear of the building retains a two-storey, two-window timber-framed extension.
