Description

Nos 5 and 7 on West Street are early 19th century buildings, likely with a core from the 18th century. They stand at 2½ storeys tall and are rendered and grooved to resemble ashlar stone. The buildings feature a plinth, rustic quoins, and a moulded wooden eaves cornice, topped by a tiled roof. No 5 has a hipped dormer with two-light casement windows. On the first floor, there are three late glazed sash windows, which are wider at the sides. The ground floor has a pair of cross glazed sash windows to the left and a central doorway with a moulded surround and cut brackets supporting a moulded wooden pediment. The door itself is a six-panel design, with the upper four panels being glazed. To the right, there is an early 20th century shop front with segmental headed lights and a central recessed half glazed entrance.
