Methven Street (North) 2-16 (Even Nos)

This early 19th century building is a three-storey and attic Classical tenement located at 2-16 Methven Street (even numbers), featuring shops on the ground floor and positioned prominently on a corner site. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar, with the rear rendered. It has a base course and a cornice. The shop fronts are pilastered and corniced, with stall risers and some recessed doorways. The corner shop retains original grilles on its windows. Notable features include a consoled and dentilled cornice at No 4 North Methven Street, and a bracketed dentilled cornice at Nos 14-16 North Methven Street. The building has piended dormers.

The windows display a variety of glazing patterns, with predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows at Nos 2-8 North Methven Street. The upper storeys feature mainly non-traditional tilt and turn windows, while the shops have plate glass. The roof is covered with grey slates and has ridge stacks.
