Description
The Grant Miller Memorial Hall, located at 257 High Street in Perth, is a late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay Classical building that originally served as a Glasite meeting house. It features a symmetrical design with a lower, recessed two-storey entrance bay on the right, which has been converted into a dance studio since 2009. The exterior is constructed of roughly coursed sandstone with raised, smooth painted margins. The upper storey is adorned with three Venetian windows, and there is a pair of panelled timber leaf doors topped with rectangular fanlights.
A plaque on the wall indicates that this building was a Glasite meeting house from 1839 to 1929.
Inside, as seen in 2009, the space has been divided into dance studios and dressing rooms. There is a dog-leg stair with a timber banister and decorative metal balusters, and the timber flooring is believed to be original. The windows are predominantly multi-pane glazing in timber sash and case style, and the roof is covered with grey slates, featuring gable stacks and raised skews.
