Description

Circa 1790; subsequent alterations . 3-storey and attic, 7-bay classical tenement (3-4) with projections at ground incorporating raised basement. Droved cream ashlar sandstone with polished dressings; formerly with channelled rustication at ground (survives at central bay). 3 left bays with modern stone faced shopfront at ground (en suite with neighbouring shop, see separate listing No 40 Charlotte Square); centre bay with steps to common stair door (No 139) with 6-pane fanlight; centre right bay with projecting pedimented porch, tripartite doorway with glazing above surmounted by fanlight with radiating glazing; adjoining projecting 3-bay shopfront with arcaded glazing (centre bay recessed as entrance) and cornice; hanging sign. Plain upper floors with eaves cornice. Earlier 19th century tripartite box dormer to right; pair of early 20th century canted piend-roofed dormers to left.

Timber sash and case windows; 12-pane, 4-pane and plate glass. Ashlar coped mutual skews; rendered stacks (reduced at centre) ; grey slates.

INTERIOR: No 139 gives access to double upper to E, and also has later slappings through to upper floors above No 141 (to W). E flat with apsidal-ended room to far 2 bays; panelled dado.
