Description

The Red Lion Public House, along with a range of outbuildings to the south, dates from the 18th century. The building is two storeys high with an attic and features five windows. It has two flat-roofed dormers and is constructed of painted brick with a brick dentil cornice. The windows have flush frames, and there is a splayed oriel bay at the north end. To the south, there is a lower two-storey, two-bay addition with two-light casement windows. Further south, there is a single-storey range of outbuildings that includes loft doors with gables in the southernmost block. The Red Lion and its outbuildings are part of a group that includes all the listed buildings in Market Place, as well as several properties on East Street, West Street, and the Church of St Peter and St Paul.
