Description
The Brewhouse and Ice House at Bloxworth House, located approximately 30 meters south of the main house, is a structure likely dating from the mid-17th century. It features brick walls with raised brick quoins and a half-hipped tiled roof with stone eaves courses, topped by a central brick stack. The building is one storey high with attics and was originally extended further to the west.
The exterior includes one square-headed doorway with a moulded oak frame and a panelled door, as well as one round-arched doorway with raised brick voussoirs. There are two timber casement windows with lead lights located under arches that have projecting brick decoration. Inside, there is a large open fireplace with a brick arch and a bread oven, along with another fireplace that has a timber lintel.
The Ice House is situated beneath the terrace in front of the Brewhouse. Its front wall is made of brick and features a door opening and two elliptical windows. Internally, there are two vaulted chambers. Two flights of brick steps lead up from the garden level to the Brewhouse.
