6/78 Brewhouse and Ice House at Bloxworth House, app. 30 m south of House

GV II *

Brewhouse. Porbably mid-C17. Brick walls with raised brick quoins. Half- hipped tiled roof with stone eaves courses. Central brick stack. One storey and attics. Originally extended further west. One square-headed doorway with moulded oak frame and panelled door. One round-arched doorway with raised brick voussoirs. 2 timber casement windows with lead lights under arches with projecting brick decoration. Internally, one large open fireplace with brick arch and bread oven, and one with timber lintol.

Ice House formed under terrace in front of Brewhouse. Front wall of brick, with door opening and 2 elliptical windows. 2 vaulted chambers internally. 2 flights of brick steps lead up to Brewhouse from garden level. RCHM Monument 2.
