Description
This lime kiln, dating from the early 19th century, is located 70 metres north-east of Bell Cottages. It features a round chimney made of rubble stone, which is built into a bank and has an opening at the top measuring about 1.5 metres in diameter. There is no stack. Surrounding the flue opening is a circular rubble-stone parapet wall that stands approximately 1.5 metres high for protection. At a lower level, there is a rubble-stone shed built against the chimney. The base of the chimney has a conoidal head made of dressed stones and includes a small opening at the base for raking out lime.
