Description
Raikes is a detached cottage dating from the mid-18th century. It features coursed, squared rubble walls and a thatched roof with stone gable copings and scroll kneelers. The building has brick stacks at each gable, some of which are partly original. It is 1½ storeys high and has three windows, which are three-light wooden casements with horizontal glazing bars, wooden lintels, and cills. Some lead lights remain in the upper left window. There are slight eyebrow dormers, and the front door, located at the center, is from the 19th century, consisting of two flush panels with four glass lights above, framed in beaded oak. A thatched porch supported by two wooden posts is also present. At the rear, there is a 19th-century addition with rubble walls and a hipped slate roof, featuring a 20th-century brick stack at the eaves and a 20th-century panelled door with a bracketed wooden canopy above.
