Description

Yondover Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the 18th century, with a 17th-century north wing. The date "R I R 1738" is inscribed on a fielded panel with a cable-mould surround. The farmhouse is constructed of dressed stone walls, incorporating two stone buttresses with set-offs. It has a thatched roof with stone gable copings and scrolled kneelers, and 20th-century stacks at each gable end. The front elevation has three windows, with renewed wooden casements featuring glazing-bars, three-light on the ground floor and two-light above. A central front door is a 20th-century replacement with numerous glass panels, set within panelled reveals and a 20th-century architrave. A rear north wing, also projecting to the west, includes a 20th-century three-light casement and a canted bay window of four lights. A brick front wall, in Flemish bond, runs attached to the house and ramps twice on the left-hand side, leading up to a gateway. The wall has cambered Lias coping stones, dating to the 18th century.
