Description

The Shamien Hotel is an early 19th-century building of two storeys and five window bays. The front is stuccoed, while the left-hand return is slate hung. The building features a bay window extending to both floors on the left-hand end. To the right of the bay, the arrangement consists of sash windows above doorways, with a sash window above and below a doorway, then another sash window above and below, and a final sash window above. Pilastered doorways are topped with pedimented hoods and fanlights, and contain six-panelled doors. The roof is slate. The building forms a group with Nos 1 and 2 Pound Street, The Peek Memorial Chapel, Hotel Alexandra, Nos 1 and 2 Alexandra Cottage, Nos 5 & 6 St Michael's Hotel, and the Stile House Hotel and wall in Stile Lane.
