Description

The Hotel Alexandra is likely of late 18th century origin, with later additions. It is a three-storey building of six window bays, featuring a projection across the front on the ground floor. The roof is felted, and the front is roughcast. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars and keystones. Bay windows are present on the first and second floors in the third bay from the left-hand end, and on the first floor at the right-hand end. A porch is present with an entablature. The hotel forms a group with Nos 1 and 2 Pound Street, The Peek Memorial Chapel, Nos 1 and 2 Alexandra Cottage, Nos 5 & 6 St Michael’s Hotel, the Shamien Hotel, and the Stile House Hotel and wall in Stile Lane.
