Description

Alexandra Cottage comprises two early 19th-century, low, two-storey buildings located at Nos 1 and 2 Pound Street. The front of the building is colourwashed rendered, with a hipped tile roof. It has sash windows with glazing bars. The front door to No 1 is situated directly on the street frontage and is a six-panel door with the top two panels fielded and the centre two glazed. The door to No 2 is on the left-hand return and is also a six-panel door with the top two panels glazed, and has a hood supported by shaped brackets above it. Nos 1 and 2 Pound Street contribute to a group of buildings along Pound Street, which includes The Peek Memorial Chapel, Hotel Alexandra, Nos 5 & 6 St Michael's Hotel, the Shamien Hotel, the Stile House Hotel, and associated walling in Stile Lane.
