Description
Burton House and St Agnes and Oribi, located at No 5 and No 6 Pound Street, are early 19th-century buildings that stand three storeys tall and feature four window bays. The buildings have a slate roof and are finished in stucco. They display a moulded cornice at the parapet and pilasters adorned with incised lime and Greek key decoration. The second floor has sash windows with glazing bars, while the first floor features tall, three-centred early 19th-century casements, which were previously part of a metal verandah. On the ground floor, there are two three-light sash windows. The entrances have moulded surrounds, with a semi-circular fanlight that includes delicate tracery above four-panelled doors. The door to No 6 is located at the right-hand end and has six panels. In front of Burton House, a low stuccoed wall ends in a stuccoed pier that is attached to No 1 Alexandra Cottage.
Burton House and St Agnes and Oribi are part of a group that includes Nos 1 and 2 Pound Street, The Peek Memorial Chapel, Hotel Alexandra, Nos 1 and 2 Alexandra Cottage, Nos 5 and 6 St Michael's Hotel, Shamien Hotel, all in Pound Street, as well as the Stile House Hotel and wall in Stile Lane.
