Description
The Volunteer Inn Public House, located at 31 Broad Street, is a building from the later 19th century that features a two-storey structure with an attic and three window bays. It has a slate roof with wide eaves. The exterior is clad in pebble mosaic above the ground floor, while the ground floor is finished in stucco. In the attic, there is a paired sash dormer on the left and a large three-light gabled dormer on the right. The first floor has, from left to right, a three-light splayed bay window that extends down to the ground floor, a sash window, and a splayed three-light bay window with glazing bars. The ground floor includes a central doorway and a shallow rectangular five-light bay window at the right end. The building is part of a group with Nos 26 to 33, which are consecutive.
