Description

Nos 34 and 35 on Broad Street, including the premises of Charles Greenham, Butcher, are a building with an 18th-century front. It has two storeys and features a dentil and moulded cornice at the parapet, which is adorned with a series of urns similar to those on Eleanor Coade's house, Belmont. The roof is slate, and the front is stuccoed.

On the first floor, there is a splayed three-light bay window with sashes, while the ground floor has a shop front with a half-glazed shop door that includes margin lights. The left-hand return has various door and window openings, including a six-panelled door in a frame topped with a cornice on brackets, and an external stack that likely incorporates a bread oven.

For No 35, on the first floor from left to right, there are two sash windows without glazing bars, and at the right end, there is a three-light splayed bay. On the ground floor, from left to right, there is a sash window (without glazing bars) with railings in front that feature uprights with spear-shaped finials, alternating in height, and circular standards with urn finials. To the right, there is a doorway with pilasters and an entablature, leading to a six-panelled door (four fielded panels and the top two panels glazed). Further to the right, the premises of Charles Greenham has a modern shop front on the ground floor.

Nos 34 to 36 on Broad Street, along with the Baptist church and The Langmoor on Silver Street, form a group with Nos 1 and 2 on Pound Street.
