Description

Raymond House is an early to mid-19th century building of three storeys and five window bays, situated on Broad Street. The front is constructed of yellow brick with painted stone dressings. A moulded cornice sits below a parapet with coping, and a band runs below the sills of the second and first floors. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars set within brick reveals, and are framed by brick voussoirs. Two doorways are present, each flanked by columns supporting Doric entablature blocks and pedimented hoods. Above each doorway is a semi-circular fanlight, and the doorways are accessed via four-panelled doors, the panels of which are decorated with lines. The doorways are linked by a moulded cornice, beneath which is a shop window. A modern shop front is located at the left-hand end of the building. The building forms a group with Nos 26 to 33.
