Description

26 Broad Street is an early to mid-19th century building of three storeys and an attic, originally with three window bays. The roof is a Mansard style covered in slate, with three dormers. The building has a moulded cornice and parapet, and a pebble-dashed front. The second floor has sash windows with glazing bars. The first floor originally featured French casements, now blocked, with moulded architraves; a frieze and cornice to the openings at either end, and a triangular pediment on brackets over the central opening. A former iron balcony was once present on the first floor. The ground floor once had a mid-19th century shop front, defined by four Corinthian columns; it now contains modern shop windows. To the left and set back, there is a four-panelled door. Numbers 26 to 33 Broad Street form a group.
