Description
No. 60 Higher Street is a detached house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations and a raised roof added in the 18th century. The walls were originally made of ironstone rubble, though some sections have been rebuilt and repaired in brick. The house features a 20th-century tiled roof with a coped gable at the west end. There is a projecting ironstone stack with offsets at the west end and a brick stack at the east end. The rear wall has brick buttresses and two door openings with slightly canted heads. The front elevation includes a central ledged door, two casement windows with central glazing bars on the ground floor, and three similar windows on the first floor. A plat band runs at first floor level. Inside, both ground floor rooms have large open fireplaces, which have been partially built up.
