Description
No. 4 Kiln Lane is a house dating from the late 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and features a plain-tile roof with stone end stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a two-window range that is canted in the middle. To the left of the centre, there is a part-glazed door from the 20th century with a wooden lintel. The ground and first floors are adorned with three-light leaded stone mullion windows that have chamfered edges and hood moulds. Some of the windows retain old quarries and catches. The first floor at the rear has quoins and two two-light wooden mullion windows, also with old catches. Inside, there is one open fireplace featuring a boxed bressumer and a bread oven, and another fireplace with a bar-stop-chamfered bressumer. The interior also includes stop-chamfered spine beams.
