Description
The stable block and coach house at Litchborough Hall, dated 1670 and largely rebuilt in the mid 19th century, is constructed from coursed squared ironstone and features an old plain-tile roof. The central gabled projection has double-leaf coach-house doors with a segmental-arched head and a hood mould above. There is a clock-face set in a trefoiled stone surround, diagonal buttresses, and a stone-coped gable with kneelers and a bell-cote at the gable. The stables on either side are symmetrical, each with plank stable doors that have overlights. Between the doors are 2-light hollow-chamfered stone mullion windows, and there are 1-light windows with chamfered stone jambs and wood lintels at the far right and left. A datestone inscribed P/SE/1670 is located in the right gable, and the building features a 9-bay bolted collar-truss roof. This structure is included for its group value.
