Description

Litchborough Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1741, with early 19th century additions and alterations. It is built of coursed squared ironstone and has a 20th century plain-tile roof, featuring a stone end stack on the left and a brick stack on a stone base on the right. The building has a two-unit plan, stands two storeys high with an attic, and has a two-window range. There is a central blocked door and 16-pane sash windows on both the ground and first floors, all with wooden lintels. The farmhouse has a plinth, two small square cellar windows to the left of centre with stone lintels, quoins, and stone-coped gables with kneelers. The left gable end features a datestone inscribed P/IC/1741. To the right, there is a lower two-storey wing that includes a re-set blocked 3-light ogee-moulded stone mullion window with a hood mould on the first floor. At the rear, there is a single-storey early 19th century addition that houses a staircase, featuring a 6-panel door with an overlight and a segmental-arched head, along with a large pointed-arched window that lights the staircase.

To the left of the farmhouse is an attached wall made of coursed squared ironstone, likely from the mid-18th century. This wall has a plank door to the garden set in a chamfered wood surround with a wooden lintel. It also features stone coping and sweeps up at either end. Inside the farmhouse, there are spine beams that are boxed on the ground floor and have ogee stops upstairs. The staircase window contains stained and painted glass, and there is a stone cellar and a collar-truss roof.
