Description

Nos. 25, 26, and 27 Cockles is a terrace of three cottages located in East Lulworth. No. 25 is likely from the 18th century and features stone walls that have been repaired in brick, a thatched roof, and brick stacks. It has one storey and attics, with a brick and stone porch that has a slate lean-to roof and a part-glazed door. The ground floor includes two casement windows with glazing bars, while the attic has two dormers with similar casements.

No. 26, the center cottage, may be a late infill and is probably from the late 18th century. It has plastered walls, a thatched roof, and brick stacks, also with one storey and attics. The porch has a slate lean-to roof, a ledged door, and a fixed window. The ground floor features one casement window with glazing bars, and the attic has two dormers with similar casements. There is a single-storey rear extension with a tiled roof.

No. 27 is likely from the 17th century and has stone and flint walls, a thatched roof, and brick stacks. It also has one storey and attics, with a lean-to on the south side that has a slate roof. The cottage features a ledged door in a timber gabled porch. The ground floor has one casement window and one horizontally sliding sash, both with glazing bars. The attic includes two dormers, one with casements and one with horizontally sliding sashes, both appearing to be in original oak frames.
