Description

The stable yard gates and gate piers at Westbrook House date from the mid to late 18th century. They are constructed from Portland ashlar and feature timber gates. The gate piers are tall and wide, measuring approximately 0.6 meters square and about 2.5 meters high. They stand on a moulded base and are topped with rich moulded capping and pineapple finials. The worked stops of the piers have small scroll tops. The gates are designed with double-ogee curve tops and consist of planks. This gateway provides access to the stable block and the northern side of Westbrook House.
