Description
Olde School House is a former school house now functioning as a cottage, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble with a thatched roof and is a long triple unit, likely created by combining two earlier small cottages. The building is set gable-end to and set back from the street, featuring one storey and an attic.
All windows have been replaced with 20th-century casements. The first section has two eyebrow dormers, while the lower central section includes a mid-roof dormer and the end section. The ground floor has three-light casements with segmental heads and a plank door topped with a thatched hood. The central section features a large pair of French doors and a two-light casement. The gable facing the road is heavily buttressed and has an external stack, along with two additional small brick ridge stacks. The rear of the building has some 20th-century extensions and retains one earlier casement with a distinctive wood lintel that has a stop-chamfered edge.
The interior has not been inspected. Historically, this building served as the school house for the former school located immediately to the north at No. 24.
