Description
This is a detached cottage located on Church Street, Upwey, originally built as an infants’ school in 1830. The building is rectangular and set back from the street with a gable end facing onto it. It is constructed of rubble and has a hipped thatch roof. The front elevation, facing south, has three segmental-headed, three-light casement windows. A 20th-century glazed porch with a swept-down thatched roof shelters a glazed front door. A single further window is located to the right. The gable end facing the street has a four-light casement window with a central wood mullion. Two casement windows are also present at the street end, with an ashlar panel below the larger window bearing the inscription 'UPWEY INFANTS SCHOOL 1830'. A brick stack is located centrally along the back eaves. The interior contains no features of historical interest.
