Description

The gate piers, boundary walls, and railings at Number 10 Eastbrook House date from the mid-19th century. The gate piers are set back and feature renewed quadrant walling made of rock-faced masonry near the southern end of Church Street. The square piers have alternating thin and thicker bands, topped with moulded cappings. The walling surrounds the entire garden, including the eastern side, and is generally constructed of rubble or coursed rubble. To the left of the gateway, the wall rises to approximately 1.2 meters, while it reaches about 2.1 meters high on the return to Stottingway Street, topped with square coping. Along the eastern side, the wall stands about 2.5 meters high, dropping to less than 1 meter in height between ramped ends directly opposite the full width of the house. The boundary features cast-iron railings arranged in nine bays with scrolled standards, creating a clairevoie.
